8. Staircase

A steep wooden staircase leads to the first floor. It is likely that the staircase in front of the exit to the garden was closed during the installation of toilets on the ground floor and on the first floor. The window to the “tavern room” reveals the former wall of the house. At the top, wide, crooked and squeaky floorboards lead to the rooms facing the street. Two of them belonged to the family home of Michael Eisemann, the last cantor of the Jewish community of Breisach, who served from 1924 to 1939.
