Exhibition Opening: “Jewish Life in Breisach, 1931”

The Blue House opened a permanent exhibition in the former living quarters of the Eisemann family and in the community room on the second floor. Texts, audio stations and exhibits in both spaces have transported visitors back to 1931. Audio plays (German/English) offered in each room relate stories about the Eisemann family and the life of the Jewish community overall. Set in the springtime, shortly before the Passover holiday, they are based on stories told by contemporary witnesses and on documentary material from the Blue House. The concept was developed with Constanze Schröder of Berlin and Dieter Weber of Freiburg.

Guests came from New York and London to the opening; the Eisemann family was represented by Steve Stoneburn. The Breisach Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Ludwig Kleber,  accompanied the festivities.
